Symphyotrichum novi-belgii ‘Purple Dome’
Height x Spread: 50cm x 50cm
Masses of dark violet-purple daisies with golden yellow centres and mid green narrow leaves, smother this more compact, dome-shaped form of ‘Michaelmas Daisy’. ‘Purple Dome’ delivers intense, jewel-like, long-lasting colour in a herbaceous or mixed border from late summer into autumn.
It looks particularly good combined with golden yellows such as Rudbeckia, deep oranges, blues and pinks. Â Bred to have foliage more resistant to mildew, its nectar rich flowers are very attractive to butterflies. Â An excellent cut flower, deadheading faded flowers will prolong flowering. Low maintenance, it prefers a rich, moist soil that has been worked well, in full sun.
